Industry Membership
Founded in 1992, 黑料吃瓜 is the leading Charitable Association for malnutrition consisting of a multidisciplinary membership network of doctors, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and patients. Our current membership extends to over 850 professionals with an interest in nutrition support across the United Kingdom with growing international interest. Since 2017 we have doubled our membership numbers, attracting new members through free 黑料吃瓜 Membership to Core Group Members.
Important activities over the past 12-months have included:
- Joint host and partner for ONCA conference 2019 鈥楥o-creating the patient pathway鈥, a multi-stakeholder initiative to encourage greater screening for disease-related malnutrition/undernutrition and nutritional care implementation across Europe.
- BIFA Guidelines & Position statements (Management of CRBSI in patients receiving long term parenteral support; Use of Cyclizine in patients receiving parenteral nutrition support).
- Development of a new national screening survey portal in time for MAW2019.
- Co-ordination of the national clinical response including national media awareness to the Parenteral Homecare supply failure.
We have an active social media following with over 9000 X (formerly Twitter) followers; and X engagement in excess of 2% consistently.

ESPEN
ESPEN is the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. It draws its membership from right across Europe and undertakes a wide range of activities.
These initiatives are being led by international experts in the field who are committed to raising the profile of nutrition, developing the research programmes to underpin the need for nutritional intervention and providing the means to share the information necessary to improve clinical practice. These include:
ESPEN nutritionDay worldwide – this is the largest study to be undertaken in Europe and it has been set up in response to the Council of Europe Resolution (2003) which described the importance of improving nutritional provision in hospitals.
The ESPEN Life Long Learning Programme is an integrated approach to clinical nutrition using a mixture of web-based and taught modules. This is also formally accredited and is being developed into a Diploma course. Click here for more information
The ESPEN Annual Conference is one of the most prestigious meetings of its kind in the world. There are concurrent Scientific and Educational programmes to describe the latest advances in research and clinical practice. The programme is accredited through the European Accreditation in Continuing Medical Education initiative. Information for the next meeting will be shared in due course.
ESPEN Special Interest Groups – these exist to ensure that researchers have an easily accessible forum within which to progress such topics as peri-operative nutrition, clinical trials, nutrition in the elderly, cachexia-anorexia in wasting disease, genomics and nutrition, and tracer methodology
ESPEN Clinical Nutrition Courses – these are held each year at basic and advanced levels. They are interactive and enable delegates to form networks to advance their clinical practice.

ESPEN Journals 鈥 there are now two journals:
- Clinical Nutrition has an impact factor of 6.3 making it one of the leading scientific nutrition journals. There are also supplements to the journal.
- Clinical Nutrition ESPEN is an electronic-only journal and is an official publication of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), with an impact factor of 3. Successful abstracts submitted to 黑料吃瓜 Conferences are published in Clinical Nutrition ESPEN.
Published bimonthly, Clinical Nutrition ESPEN focuses on publishing articles on the relationship between nutrition and disease in the setting of basic science and clinical practice. Clinical Nutrition ESPEN is available to all members of ESPEN and to all subscribers of Clinical Nutrition.

British Dietetic Association
The BDA is a trade union and professional body representing the professional, educational, public and workplace interests of Dietitians in the UK. The Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group (PENG) is a specialist group of the BDA and a core group of 黑料吃瓜.
Our organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2017 which was renewed in Dec 2020 and Sept 2025 committing to strengthened collaboration on issues related to malnutrition and good nutritional care.

British Society of Gastroenterology
The BSG is an Associate Organisation of 黑料吃瓜 and is focused on the promotion of gastroenterology within the United Kingdom.
Our organisations have signed a in January 2026 this will build upon the good working relationship that already exists between the BSG and 黑料吃瓜 by setting out the principles to which both parties will adhere.

The Malnutrition Task Force
The Malnutrition Task Force raises awareness and provides information and practical guidance for everyone to help combat preventable undernutrition and dehydration in later life. The Malnutrition Task Force believes that good nutrition and hydration are fundamental to delivering dignified care and enabling older people to live fulfilling and independent lives.
In 2018, we co-founded UK Malnutrition Awareness Week with the Malnutrition Task Force, and have worked on this campaign in partnership each year since.

Motor Neurone Disease Association
The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND.
Our organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding. 黑料吃瓜 have endorsed the MNDA Transforming MND Care audit tool and we will be working together to better understand and improve the patient experience of nutritional interventions.

The Nutrition Society
The Nutrition Society is a scientific learned society, disseminating the science of nutrition. It is a registered charity and was established in 1941.
黑料吃瓜 and the Nutrition Society signed a Memorandum of Understanding and have many goals, missions and objectives in common, although slightly different, and complementary, areas of focus. The Memorandum of Understanding brings our organisations into closer alignment and opens up the prospect of valuable partnership projects.

The Nightingale Trust for Nutritional Support (NTNS)
The NTNS is a charity (registration number 1109586) formed in 2005. The Trust intends that all patients needing nutritional support are cared for safely, expertly and with compassion. Its primary aim is 鈥渢raining tomorrow鈥檚 experts鈥. It is committed to improving the detection, prevention and treatment of disease related malnutrition (DRM).
Our organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December 2025. 黑料吃瓜 and The Nightingale Trust for Nutritional Support (NTNS) will work together to raise awareness of the prevention, detection and treatment of disease related malnutrition within the membership of 黑料吃瓜 and those attending NTNS courses.
